There is an unbelievably depressing phenomena continuing in America which is assumed falsely not happening and then ignored. It is an activity which hundreds of millions of Americans participate in doing, endangering themselves and others because of not doing it safely. The activity is vehicle driving. There are five to six million accidents each year, injuring more than a million and a half people. Many of the injuries mega regrettably are permanently disabling. Furthermore, quality of life studies reveal serious crashes lowers the quality of life in many of those injured.
Life is the most precious thing we humans possess and over forty thousand people die yearly. In younger people aged up to forty-four years vehicle accidents are the most common causes of demise. Our bodily damages are the most harmful, but finances suffer horribly as well. The overall cost includes medical costs, property damages, and lost wages and totals hundreds of billions of dollars each year and under the present driver’s mindsets it continues relentlessly year after year.
Each day many millions of drivers get into their cars without a concern about safety because they think they are secure drivers. Today others may have serious wrecks but not me is ubiquitous thinking.
Most disturbing are the data concerning American drivers. Testing driver’s driving knowledge concludes that six out of every ten drivers are rated as unsafe. Furthermore, accurate data judging wreck’s causes rates over ninety percent due to driver error. This horrific rating means that better preparation by drivers of how to drive will provide great relief. Up to 5,000,000 wrecks a year could be prevented. Even more important 1,400,000 injuries and 39,000 deaths would not have to be suffered. Let us seek to remedy this plight and make it better.
