Albert Einstein allegedly said, “Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results.” We all know this is true especially regarding our health. Fortunately, other criteria are applied or we would all be classed as certifiably insane. Our health is our most important possession─ no doubt. Let’s decide to undertake (poor word choice) activities to improve our wellbeing.
When the elderly were given psychological tests to determine levels of motivation and levels of depression, there was an inverse relationship. As motivation increased depression decreased.1 Furthermore, the intrinsic, self-motivated people were significantly less depressed; whereas, if one’s motivation resulted because of external sources, their depression increased. So, get motivated.
• Start small and significant with goals.
• Make only one or at most two resolutions.
• Decide to increase step-wise.
• Tell significant others.
• Give yourself rewards for achievements.
Here’s to a gratifying New Year for all.
